Free Eye Test

You may be eligible for free eye examinations if you are:

• Aged 60 or over
• Registered blind or partially sighted
• Suffering from diabetes
• People who have glaucoma
• If you are over 40, and are the parent, brother, sister, son or daughter of a person with glaucoma
• Considered to be at risk of glaucoma
• Everyone over 60 is eligible for free sight test and those listed below may be entitled to help towards the cost of spectacles
• On a low Income and named on a valid HC2 (full help) or HC3 (partial help) certificate
• You or your partner if you are receiving Income Support or Guarantee Pension Credit
• Those in need of complex lenses

Should you need spectacles, the optometrist testing your eyes will provide a prescription. Those entitled to financial assistance will simply be required to sign the appropriate form and may be provided with free spectacles.
