Myth or Fact: Are black spots serious?
macular

I saw some black spots in my vision, is this serious?

Floaters (black spots) are common as we get older and are caused by the jelly inside our eye (which give the eye it's shape) forming stringy parts which cast a shadow on the light sensitive part of the eye (retina) which cause the appearance of black spots. However, an eye test is advised as very occasionally the appearance of many black spots and flashes can result in a referral if the retina is suspected of detaching from the jelly.
