As a person ages there are a number of changes to their vision which naturally develop due to ageing.

It’s a simple fact of life for many to experience any of the following as we age:

  • The need for additional light
  • Having a higher sensitivity to glare
  • Reduced peripheral vision
  • Reduced sensitivity to contrasts
  • Slower in adapting to changes in light level
  • Less visual acuity
  • Reduction in depth perception
  • Altered perception of colours

The chances of having a form of dementia also increases with age, and when coupled with any of the changes in vision listed above, it can be harder to make sense of the world around you.

Whatever our eye sees our brain needs to be able to interpret in order to understand. Depending on a person’s circumstances, either with an eye condition or form of dementia, it can be incredibly difficult and confusing simply trying to make their way around their own home.

Visioncall are here to help those who need it most to see better and live better, which led us to create our own range of directional signage for use within the home.

We offer this to all of our partners as well as those who are not currently partnered Visioncall to ensure we are giving back to help improve daily lives through navigation.

Our wide range of signage have been developed alongside visual communication experts to be simple, clear and dementia-friendly.

The colours, font and exclusive iconography have been carefully selected for their universal understanding, to let people know where they are going.

The key is contrast, an element you’ll likely notice at first glance.

High contrast colours have been used so each sign can deliberately draw attention and give immediate importance.

The design also allows for functional signposting across the home, so if someone requires the bathroom unaccompanied they will be able to see where it is with little obstruction or confusion.

Extra steps have been taken in the design to include functionality.

All of our signs are self-adhesive for easy installation in the home, meaning less hassle and worries over placement and safety of the signage.

We also manufacture them using a non-reflective material to avoid light glare, making them easily visible at all times of the day.

Signage from Visioncall is waterproof, giving that extra peace of mind knowing they’ll be resilient to any mishaps or accidents.

Our range of signage is for the most common needs of the home, including signs for bedrooms, communal living areas, directional arrows, personal hygiene, medical areas and even staff locations.

But we know and understand that every home is different to meet their residents’ needs, which is why we offer bespoke signage options to meet a specific requirement that you may have in mind.
